This module consists of two parts. The first one is focused on issues related to the media coverage of the refugee /migration subject at international/European/national and local level. It also discusses on a comparative basis whether the portrayal of refugees /immigrants’ image in the old and new media is presented as an intruder or as a positive development. It will also discuss the issues of poverty, social inequalities, gender and the image of women and children based on educational, cultural and religious characteristics, as well as the journalistic coverage and criminality. The second part of the module is focused on the new media. Thus, the second part will discuss issues related to the use of new media and their effects on the communication of refugees.
