Dr J. Tsiganou (Ph.D., 1988, LSE, London) has been Director of Research for the last 15 years at EKKE where she works on a permanent basis from 1994 onwards. She has served as Director of EKKE’s Institute of Political Sociology (2003-2012) and has been appointed as administrative and/or scientific supervisor in more than 50 national and European research projects in the broad field of political sociology with emphasis in the area of crime and deviance, law, institutions, migration, social inequalities and social exclusion. She has also been appointed as the national co-ordinator of the European Social Survey in Greece and has been actively involved in research on xenophobia and discrimination. She headed also the “Excellence Grant” issued by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (2005-2007) for the study of aspects of discrimination impeding migrant’s inclusion to the Greek society and labour market.

Visiting professor at Panteion University – Post-graduate Studies in Criminology, «Methodology of Research», and on occasion at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens - post-graduate Studies - Faculty of Law and the Panteion University Media Department – Graduate Studies.
Dr. J. Tsiganou has been author, co-author or editor and co-editor of twenty – six books (in both, Greek and English languages) in the fields of her specialisation. She has been also author or co-author of more than 100 scientific journal articles and collective volume studies.
