Field of specialization, studies, work experience:

Patricia Gerakopoulou holds a PhD in Social Psychology, with an expertise in Media Psychosociology.

Since 2010 she is a teaching and scientific associate at the Faculty of Media and Communication Studies of the NKUA. Since 2017 she is a Professor-Counselor at the Hellenic Open University and since 2016 she is a Research Associate at the National Center for Social Research being responsible for the project management of EU projects that develop Open Educational Resources (OERs) and MOOCs

for Humanitarian Professionals who address the refugees’ needs. In the context of the NKUA’s European project “University leading and step-wise approach on the integration of refugees” (UNINTEGRA, AMIF, 2017-2019) she is responsible for the technical and academic monitoring of multiple research and project activities regarding the social integration of refugees, including the development and testing of a mobile app for refugees who live in Athens (App4Refs). She is the author of a book based on her PhD thesis published in 2008, and of numerous chapters in collective books published in Greece and in the UK, as well as a number of papers in peer-reviewed journals.
